I am sitting in the dressing room after having been out on WinterJam for the last 2 nights in Southaven, MS and Little Rock, AR, simply overwhelmed by the goodness of the Lord. I was honored these last two days to share the stage with Stephanie Smith, Francesca Battistelli, Hawk Nelson, Newsong, Brandon Heath, and Toby Mac, artists that are passionate about what they do and even more passionate about the God they serve, and it has been absolutely humbling for me. I have learned from each of them as people as well as artists, and have gotten to know the heart behind such incredible music a little bit better.
Yet as I sit here reflecting and mulling over the last 48 hours, my mind lands on the central theme of WinterJam and ultimately our lives…Jesus Christ. The sweetest name I’ll ever know. The creator of all things seen and unseen. The God who has loved me even when my heart was black, for He saw not my sin but the cross instead. Tonight after Tony Nolan spoke about the life that can be ours as a free gift of God through His Son, I was brought to tears at the sight of thousands of young people on their feet saying in that moment, “I want to know this Jesus. I believe I am a sinner in need of a Savior, and I receive Him as the only one who can raise me from death to life.” The Gospel is still alive and well, people. I was so strongly reminded of that fact tonight. Our God saves. He has done everything in His power to reach out to all of fallen humanity, and the picture of Jesus extending His matchless love through His life sacrificed is the most beautiful story in all of history. The love of God is life-changing, and I for one will never be the same.
Song "you're not alone"
First time I heard this song I had just entered my car and the song had already started on Star 99.1 FM that my car radio is always on. The song spoke so much to me. I couldn't wait to hear it again so I could soak it all in. Like so many other people, life has been so rough lately but I have learned to soak in the Word and lean on God. This song was just the words I needed to hear and it continues to bless me every time I listen to it. Thank you so much Meredith!! God is great!
